Dont know how much more pain I can Take. :(

I am 22 years old. I was told I had scolios at 12 and saw a specialist at 13. They wanted to brace but at 13 I didn't want that. Now Im married and have 2 children. Memorial Day 2009 I started getting a awful pain but ignored it because we were all going to the water park, Being in the water helped, but it was still killing me that night. The next day I woke from a restless night of pain and got ready for work, Needless to say I didn't make it. I made it to my grandmothers work cause the pain was so bad I couldn't even push the gas pedal without crying. I called work and told them I had to go to the doc ASAP! I went to the ER where they did a CT because they way I was "acting" they said I seemed to have kidney stones. The CT Scan came back normal and I got sent home on orders of staying in bed and taking pain meds. I made a appt with my doc and from there got xrays. In June of 2009 I met my Surgen, I am 2 degrees away from surgery point. He couldn't explain why the pain was so bad though. He told me I can't work anymore where I stand for long periods of time because it will make it worse.
Now the pain has gotten more frequent. If I stand for a period of a hour my back starts to hurt bad and I have to lay down to get the pain under control without Taking pain Meds (which I hate) Earlier this week Mon-Wen the pain was all day from time I woke till bed. The pain would move shoot down to my knee.
Has Anyone exprinced this type of pain and to be so bad you cant stand for long because it hurts? Hoping someone can help me out a little

*Oh Dont know If I said but its Lower Back pain starts on Left Moves to right*

I am about to turn 22 and was told I had scoliosis at age 12 also... I received treatment immediately and wore an unbearable back brace until I was 14. The doctors told me to stop wearing my brace when I stopped growing (almost around my 15th birthday). The degree in my back went from 38 to about 32 after I took my brace off. I had no back pain until I turned 18, and it has gotten worse every day since then. I do not have health insurance and I am afraid of how severe my curve has gotten since then. I know I have to do something about it, the pain is constant... I worked 8-10 hours sitting in an office... the pain seems to be worse now that I sit all day long than when I used to wait tables. Doing dishes at home for 10 minutes causes me so much pain that I have to lay down for 20 minutes afterwards. Is surgery the only option? I can't imagine how much worse this is going to be later in life if it's this miserable already...

I can only tell you what has helped me more than any other medication for pain management. Fentanyl patches seem to give the most relief without making you feel "messed up". Best of luck and what i do when I think i can't take anymore...SLEEP.

Scoliosis...ouch!!!!! When u get to a certain point in ones life, the last option for a quality of life IS surgery. If its this bad now, imagine how bad it will be 5-10 years from now. I hope you can find a dr willing to wrk with u on a sliding scale fee...for ur 2 degrees away from surgery. If u get to the point where u can no longer function to wrk and be independant, then you'll end up requiring ssi or sumthing. Too bad we donthave universal health care so everyone who needs medical treatment can receive it!!!!!:)

Christie, I too suffer from severe pain 24/7 from an injury I received back in Oct. 2005. After surgery the pain increased and has spread throughout my whole body. I am now diagnosed with chronic nerve damage, fibromyalgia, RA, and have not been able to deal with meds as would like. I believe in natural cures, but sometimes the pain is so bad I have to take stronger meds. Have you been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, because it sounds like a lot of the symptoms I have. I'm here if you need to talk.
