Vincent Traynelis,
M.D.
Dr. Vincent Traynelis
is Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Iowa College
of Medicine, and he is Associate Director of the Surgical Intensive
Care Unit at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Traynelis
is also Associate Director of the Iowa Spine Research Center.
Additionally, he is a Consultant for the Veterans Affairs Medical
Center. At West Virginia University School of Medicine, Dr.
Traynelis completed a Medical Degree and residencies in Neurosurgery.
Dr. Traynelis
is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American
Association of Neurological Surgeons, AANS/CNS Joint Section
on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves, AANS/CNS Joint
Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care, Society for Neuroscience,
North American Skull Base Society, American College of Surgeons,
North American Spine Society, and the Cervical Spine Research
Society. He has held leadership positions for several of these
professional organizations, and has been a course director or
faculty member for meetings sponsored by these groups.
Dr. Traynelis
conducts extensive research activities with his main focus being
the cervical spine and neuro-oncology. He is a recipient of
many awards and grants in these areas.
Dr. Traynelis
has authored two books and contributed 38 chapters to medical
texts. He has published 61 articles in peer-reviewed journals,
and published 22 abstracts. He has written five reviews and
exhibited research numerous times at professional meetings.
Dr. Traynelis is on the Editorial Board of Clinical Neurosurgery
and on the Advisory Board of Spine. Dr. Traynelis is also an
Editorial Reviewer for several other professional journals.
