Harry L. Shufflebarger, M.D.

Doctor Shufflebarger is a Professor of Clinical Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He holds a hospital appointment at Miami Childrens Hospital as Chief of the Division of Spinal Surgery, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Neurosurgery.

Dr. Shufflebarger earned a Medical Degree from Emory University, School of Medicine, where he was recognized for academic achievement with the Alpha Omega Alpha award. His residency in Orthopaedic Surgery was at Emory University's Affiliated Hospitals.

Currently, Dr. Shufflebarger is the President of the Scoliosis Research Society. Additionally, he is a member of many other professional societies including: the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Association, North American Spine Society, Pediatric Orthopedic Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, National Scoliosis Association, and the International Spinal Study Group. For fifteen years, Dr. Shufflebarger was the Medical Director of Children's Medical Services. The Ronald McDonald Foundation recognized Dr. Shufflebarger for his excellent medical service to children.

The published research of Dr. Shufflebarger includes 11 chapters contributed to medical textbooks, 28 peer-reviewed articles published in professional journals, and 130 scientific papers published by abstract or presentation. He has presented four scientific exhibits and six instructional videotape productions. In addition, Dr. Shufflebarger has been a Visiting Professor world-wide including much of Latin America, Europe and Asia.

Dr. Shufflebarger is a member of the SpineUniverse Editorial Board.
