Doctor Mark R. McLaughlin is an Instructor of Neurological Surgery
at Tufts University School of Medicine. He practices neurological
surgery with a focus on spine disorders at the Neurosurgical
and Neurological Group, Inc. in Springfield, Massachusetts.
He completed a Fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery with Drs.
Regis W. Haid, Jr., and Gerald E. Rodts, Jr. at Emory University
Medical Center. He completed his residency at the University
of Pittsburgh during which time he received multiple honors
including a two time resident teaching award. He earned his
medical degree with honors at Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia
Commonwealth University. He received his bachelors degree majoring
in philosophy at The College of William and Mary in Virginia.
He is presently the inaugural
editor of the Young Neurosurgeons' Newsletter, and serves as
the secretary of the joint AANS/CNS Young Neurosurgeons' Committee.
He holds membership in the AANS/CNS joint section on Neurotrauma
and Critical Care as well as the Spine section. He serves on
the International Fellowship Committee for the AANS/CNS. He
is a candidate member of the American Association of Neurological
Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and American College
of Surgeons.
Dr. McLaughlin has written 14
book chapters, published thirty-three articles in peer reviewed
journals, and has co-edited two books. He has been an invited
speaker and presenter at numerous scientific meetings. In addition
to this national recognition he has organized an international
consultative link with neurosurgeons in Russia. With collaboration
from the World Federation of Neurological Surgeons he initiated
the first ever Russian-American Spine Symposium held in St.
Petersburg, Russia, May, 2000.
Dr. McLaughlin is a member of
the SpineUniverse Editorial Board.
