Dennis
J. Maiman, M.D., Ph.D.
Doctor
Dennis J. Maiman is a Professor of Neurosurgery at the Medical
College of Wisconsin in the Department of Neurosurgery. He holds
a secondary academic appointment at the college as a Professor
of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Maiman holds the
hospital appointment of Senior Attending Neurosurgeon at Froedtert
Memorial Lutheran Hospital where he is also the Founding Medical
Director of both the regional Spinal Cord Injury Center and
SpineCare a unique transdisciplinary clinic for the management
of spine problems. Additionally, he is the Director of the Spine
Surgery Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Dr. Maiman
earned his Medical Degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin
and his Doctorate of Philosophy from Marquette University in
Biomedical Engineering. His PhD dissertation was the "Biomechanics
of spinal injuries produced by vertical compression." Dr. Maiman's
Surgical Internship was at the Medical College of Wisconsin
Affiliated Hospitals as was his Residency in Neurological Surgery.
He did a Fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury at the Veterans Affairs
Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Dr. Maiman
is an active member of many professional organizations and serves
on their committees. He is a member of the following national
professional organizations: The American Association of Neurological
Surgeons, AANS/CNS Joint Section on Spinal Disorders, AANS/CNS
Joint Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care, American Medical
Association, Cervical Spine Research society, Congress of Neurological
Surgeons, and the North American Spine Society.
With a
book currently in press titled, "The Adult Lumbar Spine" Dr.
Maiman contributes to published research on spine issues. He
has contributed 28 chapters to medical books, 80 peer-reviewed
journals, 109 abstracts and many invited papers.
In addition
to directing fellowships and spine patient care, Dr. Maiman
is an active member of his community.
Dr. Maiman
is a member of the SpineUniverse Editorial Board.
