Dr. Anderson is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon currently practicing
at The Rothman Institute and an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopeadics
at Thomas Jefferson University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Anderson received his medical degree from Loma Linda University in Loma
Linda, California. He then completed his internship in General Surgery and his
residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine in
Orange California.
Following his internship and residency, Dr. Anderson went on to complete a
Fellowship in Spine Surgery in the Departments of Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery
at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
In between his residency and spine fellowship, Dr. Anderson served in the United
States Air Force. During his duty he served as the Chief of Orthopaedic Spine
Surgery at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth Virginia, as an Orthopaedic
Surgery Consultant to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Hampton Virginia,
and as Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery of the 1st Medical Group at Langly Air Force
Base in Virginia.
Dr. Anderson has received numerous academic and military awards including a
Commendation Medal from the United States Air Force, an Orthopaedic Hospital
Resident Research Award from the California Orthopaedic Association and the
Vernon P. Thompson Award from the Western Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Anderson has also had extensive research experience, participating in a
wide variety of clinical investigations on topics such as artificial discs,
fusion techniques, spinal cord injuries, and disc degeneration.
In addition to his medical practice and teaching duties, Dr. Anderson is also
a member of several prestigious medical associations including the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Cervical Spine Research Society, the American
Spinal Injury Association, the North American Spine Society, and the Society
of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons.
As an active member of his community, Dr.
Anderson has made numerous presentations to seniors, veterans, and even the
general public on local television news programs on such issues as the aging
spine, spine health, and artificial discs.
Dr. Anderson's ongoing laboratory
research focuses on disc degeneration and repair. In his surgical practice,
Dr. Anderson treats a full spectrum of spinal conditions with a special emphasis
on performing less invasive surgery.
