Born to a military family in Fort Benning, GA. Dr. Truumees (pronounced, True-Mez) graduated with honors from college and medical school at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. His residency training was undertaken at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH.

Dr. Truumees' practice is limited to disorders of the spine. Further, he involved in a number of research projects involving minimally invasive and motion-sparing techniques for spine stabilization and pain relief. He is an active faculty member of the Beaumont residency and fellowship training programs and has published a number of abstracts, scientific papers, and book chapters on various aspects of spine care.

Dr. Truumees has been named one of the top doctors in Detroit by Hour Magazine. He has been appointed to the continuing medical education committee of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is the co-chairman of the upcoming course in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery offered by that Academy in conjunction with the North American Spine Society.
