Doctor Shufflebarger is Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation
at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He holds a hospital appointment
at Miami Children's Hospital as Chief of the Division of Spinal Surgery, Department
of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a secondary appointment in the Department of
Neurosurgery.
Dr. Shufflebarger earned a Medical Degree from Emory University, School of
Medicine, where he was recognized for academic achievement with the Alpha Omega
Alpha award. His residency in Orthopaedic Surgery was at Emory University's
Affiliated Hospitals.
Dr. Shufflebarger is a past President of the Scoliosis Research Society and
member of many other professional societies including: the American Academy
of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Association, American Academy of
Pediatrics, International Spinal Study Group, National Scoliosis Association,
North American Spine Society, and Pediatric Orthopedic Society. For fifteen
years, Dr. Shufflebarger was the Medical Director of Children's Medical Services.
The Ronald McDonald Foundation recognized Dr. Shufflebarger for his excellent
medical service to children.
The published research of Dr. Shufflebarger includes 18 chapters contributed
to medical textbooks, 36 peer-reviewed articles published in journals, and more
than 160 presentations at professional meetings. He has presented numerous scientific
exhibits and instructional videotape productions. In addition, Dr. Shufflebarger
has been a Visiting Professor world-wide including much of Latin America, Europe
and Asia.
