Doctor Hallett Mathews is Vice President Medical Affairs for Medtronic Spine and Biologics' division in Memphis, TN. In addition, he is Associate Clinical Professor, Orthopaedic and Neurologic Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia at Richmond, VA. He is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who, before joining Medtronic, was President of a private practice, MidAtlantic Spine Specialists.

Doctor Mathews earned his Medical Degree at Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia and completed a surgical internship through the university hospitals. Following the general surgical internship, Dr. Mathews completed a residency program with emphasis in spine.

He is a current member of many prestigious societies and past Board of Director of the North American Spine Society, Spinal Arthroplasty Society, International Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, and International Intradiscal Therapy Society. In addition, Dr. Mathews is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Doctor Mathews also served on the editorial boards of Spine, The Spine Journal, Computer Aided Surgery, and Journal of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
