George A. Frey, MD is a board certified Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon and the founder
of the Colorado Comprehensive Spine Institute. Dr. Frey has focused his medical
practice on the treatment of all complex problems of the spine including cervical,
thoracic, and lumbar regions in the adult as well as the child. Dr. Frey has
extensive experience and additional training in the areas of complex spinal
reconstruction surgery, revision surgery, and scoliosis surgery for the child
and adult.
Dr. Frey is a highly regarded spine specialist who received his medical training
from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Dr. Frey completed his residency
and fellowship in Orthopedic Spine Surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical
Center in Chicago, Illinois. He also completed advanced specialized training
in reconstructive and traumatic spinal surgery involving all regions of the
spine for such conditions as scoliosis, trauma, degenerative deformities, tumors,
and infections.
Dr. Frey is very active as a leader in the development of new surgical techniques,
spinal systems and implants. He has taken a prominent role in the national and
international educational process of his fellow surgical spine specialists and
lectures extensively in these areas. Dr. Frey has a specific expertise in emerging
technologies and techniques for minimally invasive spinal surgery techniques.
He has authored or co-authored numerous articles in the area of spinal and orthopedic
surgery.
Dr. Frey was born in Basel, Switzerland and enjoys skiing, biking, vintage
car racing, restoration, and motor sports. He is married to Heidi, an accomplished
attorney in her own right, and has two sons.
