Morphine sulfate (Avinza)

Avinza is the brand name for morphine sulfate, an extended-release capsule. This prescription medication is a strong narcotic pain reliever. It is prescribed to treat moderate to severe, or severe chronic pain in select patients. Avinza may be used by patients who need morphine longer than several days. Morphine is not for short-term, or 'as needed' use, including the treatment of acute pain.
