Escitalopram (Lexapro)

Lexapro is the brand name for escitalopram. This prescription medication is an anti-depressant used to treat depression and generalized anxiety disorder (uncontrolled worrying). Depressive disorders may affect patients with back or neck pain, especially when pain is chronic. Lexapro is in a class of anti-depressants called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Escitalpram works by increasing the amount of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain that helps maintain mental balance.
