Kineret is the brand name for anakinra. Kineret is in a class of medications called interleukin antagonists. Anakinra works by blocking the activity of interleukin, a protein in the body that causes joint damage. Kineret is a man-made (synthetic) injectable drug. Kineret is prescribed to treat swelling and pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
